Yusuf Ameer, CFA
Yusuf combines M&A and restructuring experience with a practical understanding of leading and operating businesses, and working with senior stakeholders.
Yusuf leads Maya Capital, bringing 20 years of international experience across M&A advisory, management consulting, and hands-on business operational expertise. His career includes leadership roles at Deloitte Australia, Monitor Deloitte, Chevron, and Maersk.
His skills span sell-side and buy-side M&A, capital raising, and restructuring within the technology, energy, retail, and financial services sectors. Throughout his career, he has served as a trusted advisor to founders, CEOs, senior executives, and members of royal families, guiding them through their most complex strategic challenges.
Yusuf holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and an MBA (UK), and is a CFA Charterholder.
He is also the co-author of Cracking Corporate.

Beyond the work.
I’ve looked for purpose for the better part of my life. I was hoping to be ‘struck by lightning’ and suddenly realise what I was here to do. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that easy.
When our daughter was born, the cliché about time being the most valuable resource rang true like never before. So, I decided to do the work to uncover my purpose. I looked inward to understand what I was really about, what gave me joy, and what I was intrinsically passionate about. I wanted to build a life that was true to this, because I couldn’t keep spending time on things that didn’t align to these things.
I discovered that I loved connecting with people and building deep, meaningful relationships. I enjoyed pushing myself to be better, mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And I realised that I’m fascinated by the human condition and curious about how I can realise my full potential, and help others do the same.
Maya Capital was eventually born as an expression of this purpose. To connect with like-minded people, help bring out the best in each other, and do great things together. And through this, hopefully, we live happier, healthier, more fulfilled lives, so that one day we can look back and feel proud of the things we did, and the mark we left on the world.
